Sweden’s police chief Petra Lundh tops list of highest-paid government officials

At the beginning of the month, the government decided on new salaries for around 220 heads of agencies and senior civil servants in central government.

The average salary increase will be 3.4 percent, according to the union newspaper Publikt.

After the salary increase, National Police Commissioner Petra Lundh is at the top among the heads of government agencies with a monthly salary of SEK 200,700, followed by Nils Öberg, Director General of the Social Insurance Agency, who will receive a new salary of SEK 196,000. Third is the Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces, Michael Claesson, with SEK 189,700 a month.

The person receiving the biggest salary increase is the Director General of the Swedish Fortifications Agency, Maria Bredberg Pettersson. After a 5.66 percent increase, she will earn 139,900 kronor per month.
