Julia Köhler became too tough in the final in Belgian Beveren. The German started strongly and led after half the match but Livia Högbom managed to fight her way back and at the end of the battle for gold it was even and only a few points difference.
But no closer than that did Högbom get.
The Swede, who previously has a European Championship bronze, had to settle for silver.
”The first match was nerve-exciting but when Livia gets going she is unstoppable. She is a fantastic role model for the team and has a long career ahead of her. Now she has also shown the rest of the squad where the prize podium is”, says national team captain Tobias Back in a press release.
The European Championship in Jujutsu continues until Sunday.
