The idea behind The Great Reading Challenge is for fourth graders to improve their reading skills through enjoyable and regular reading based on their own interests and circumstances.
So far, more classes have registered than in previous years. Nearly 2,800 classes and 64,000 students have registered for the competition, which is led by comedian and presenter David Sundin.
This year's competition begins on September 15 but is open to all fourth graders until September 30, and runs until December 1. The class that reads the most wins a trip to Astrid Lindgren's Vimmerby.
