Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard (The Moderate Party) has met President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in Ukraine.

”Sweden will increase the pressure on Russia to stop its aggression", writes Malmer Stenergard in a comment after the visit to the city of Uzjhorod in western Ukraine.

"Ukraine is ready for a fair and lasting peace. Only Russia stands in the way.”

At the meeting, Malmer Stenergard was awarded the Princess Olga Order, a Ukrainian distinction that is awarded to women for notable personal contributions in, for example, public service.

She also met, among others, Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko and Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha.

”We discussed joint defense projects and the needs of our warriors”, writes Zelenskyj on X after the meeting.

”We spoke in detail about further assistance to Ukraine, the development of a new defense package, the Purl initiative, the protection of Ukraine's airspace, investments in Ukrainian drone production and the prospects for joint defense projects”, continues Zelenskyj.

Purl is an initiative to finance important American weapons to Ukraine.
