Construction investments are expected to increase to SEK 690 billion next year, bringing them back to 2023 levels after several years of headwinds, according to the forecast.
The forecast also shows employment in the sector increasing next year to just over 377,600, up by just over 10,000 from 2025, while the number of redundancy notices is falling.
"Growth is clear in water supply, energy and railways. The upturn in commercial premises is driven by industrial investments and government investments linked to defense and correctional services," says Kristoffer Tamsons, CEO of Byggföretagen, in a written comment.
However, he is concerned that housing construction in major cities is not picking up and that rising interest rates are affecting the housing market.
