It looked like it would be a comfortable victory for Sweden. Midway through the third period, the Småkronorna led 4–0 after Wiggo Sörensson - who plays for Division 2 club Boro/Vetlanda - opened the scoring after five minutes.
But there would still be some nerves. Four minutes from the end, the home nation Slovakia reduced the deficit, and just over a minute later they scored again.
Sweden finally steadied their nerves, and there was a blue-and-yellow gold celebration in Slovakia's Považská.
The gold is the Småkronorna's third since the historic first in 2019 - then with today's NHL stars Lucas Raymond and Jesper Wallstedt on the team, among others.
