Ahead of the important match with Poland, there is hard training in Blågult. But in the middle of the intensive schedule, the squad has found its own way to relax. During the camp, about ten players and staff will go to the cinema to watch a new blockbuster with Brad Pitt.
"We hang out, train a lot and have some coffee. Tonight we're going to the movies," said Benjamin Nygren when the national team met the media on Saturday.
The choice of film ended up being “Heat of the Beast”, even though Nygren himself was not the one pulling the strings.
“No weirdness”
"I don't actually know who decided that, but it sounds good and I'm looking forward to the movie. I actually like a lot of different types of movies, I love movies and series," he says.
The squad will also be able to treat themselves to some treats.
A piece of candy or two has never killed anyone. As much as we train, it's not strange to have a piece of candy or two. It's very mathematical, you shouldn't overthink things like that, says Nygren.
The cinema group consists of a number of players, including Gustav Lagerbielke, Noel Törnqvist and Alexander Bernhardsson. But the evening will not be completely complete for Nygren. His close friend and national team mate Emil Holm, who was forced to leave the squad and go home due to his injury, will be missing from the cinema.
“It was absolutely magical”
"It's so sad. He's a very close friend of mine, so it's extra sad and disappointing that he's injured again. I just tried to be there for him as a friend," says Nygren.
Despite Holm's absence, the mood in the squad is at its peak ahead of the upcoming battle. Nygren is looking forward to stepping out onto the Strawberry Arena again and remembers the last meeting against the Poles warmly. That time, the victory secured a World Cup place.
"The last time we met them (in March) was absolutely magical, one of the best days of my life. They want revenge and we want to beat them again, so we will be fired up as hell," says Nygren.
