Top seeds Andersson/Hölting Nilsson won their opening group-stage match against the Austrian pair Alexander Horst and Christoph Dressler 24-22, 21-11.
Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig had last played together a month ago, and their European Championship campaign in Poland against João Pedrosa and Hugo Campos got off to a shaky start. The Portuguese took the first set 21-8, but the Swedes were able to turn it around and win 2-1, 21-14, 15-11.
Åhman/Hellvig took European Championship silver last year, but won European Championship gold in 2022 and 2023. Last year they also won World Championship gold after beating Andersson/Hölting Nilsson in the final.
