Officially, the international organisation Seefar is the initiator of the project, which aims to attract Afghans to a new start in the Taliban-ruled country. However, the “Zindagi Taza” project is funded by the Swedish government and has been ongoing since 2025.

The goal has been to reach 2,000 Afghans in Sweden and get 200 to return. With two months left, no one has taken action.

–I think we should wait for the end of the project before we evaluate it, says Migration Minister Johan Forssell (M) to Aftonbladet.

The campaign is aimed at Afghans who have not been able to be deported. According to Forssell, the aim is to address the problem of them going underground.
