It looked bleak for Sweden for a long time in the return match in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. Slovenia dominated the match in the first and second sets, which were won 25–15 and 25–18 respectively.
But the Swedish volleyball women woke up in the third and, after a shock, reduced the deficit to 25–20. Sweden then levelled the match at 2–2 after winning the fourth set convincingly, 25–18.
Slovenia needed to win to take the match to the deciding set (Sweden won the first match), but Sweden showed experience, winning the fifth set 15–12 and the match 3–2.
Sweden thus went unbeaten throughout the European League, where the best national teams that have not qualified for the Nations League participate.
In August, Sweden will play in the European Championship and will have home-field advantage in the group stage in Gothenburg.
