It was on the final stretch, as Sweden was storming towards the European Championship gold, that Tove Alexandersson fell and hurt herself while reading the map.
But Alexandersson quickly got up and secured the gold. Switzerland took silver and Finland won bronze.

In the men's race, Sweden took the bronze medal at the European Championships through the Swedish second team, consisting of Emil Svensk, Simon Imark and Simon Hector. Gold went to Switzerland and Norway secured silver.
