More people in risk groups should get vaccinated against covid-19 to get good protection against serious illness, announces the Public Health Agency. In the risk group over 80 years, only 39 percent have been vaccinated so far this spring.

People aged 65-79 who receive daily home care or live in special housing for the elderly are also recommended to get vaccinated.

"In the spring, we are targeting the groups that need two doses of vaccine per year, so they get protection that lasts all year round. Last year, we saw that the spread of infection increased during the summer, so it's important for these groups to top up their protection," says unit manager Tina Crafoord, in a press release.

The booster dose of the covid-19 vaccine is being offered in all regions, mainly during the month of April.
