It is a very serious situation in a region that is already tense and unstable and we are now following the rapid development very closely and like many others, we are now urging all parties to de-escalate, says the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Stenergard tells that she is also in close contact with her European counterparts at the same time as the consular work is in progress.

We are trying to quickly identify which Swedish citizens we have in the region and ensure that our staff on site in these different countries are also put in safety and we are considering, of course, various security measures all the time.
