It is the Air Defense Regiment L6 in Halmstad that has been assigned to establish a detachment on Gotland starting July 1.
"The security situation requires capability here and now, alongside continued adaptation. This applies to the Army in general and to Gotland in particular," Army Chief Johan Pekkari says in a press release.
The plan is to begin basic training for air defense units on the island next year. The regiment in Halmstad is currently the only one of its kind, and the Swedish Armed Forces see a need to train people in more places.
"To cope with the major expansion of air defense, we need more people working in the field, and that starts with education," Air Defense Regiment commander Sofia Westermark says in the press release.
