Sweden to Make Eight Changes for European Championship Qualifier Against Luxembourg

Eight out, eight in. The national handball team is replacing half the squad ahead of its next European Championship qualifier.

After Thursday's clear 33-24 win over Greece in Växjö, Sweden will use Sunday's European Championship qualifier against likely whipping boys Luxembourg to try something new.

Mikael Appelgren, Lucas Pellas, Max Darj, Oscar Bergendahl, Daniel Pettersson, Sebastian Karlsson, Felix Claar and Albin Lagergren will all be sent home.

Instead, eight less experienced players will have to show what they can do. Goalkeeper Marko Roganovic, left back Leon Halén, centre backs Hugo Stuivers and Arvid Andreasson, right backs Alfred Arnelin and Isak Persson, centre back Ludvig Hallbäck and right back Erik Persson will join the squad in Luxembourg.

"This is the last meeting before the World Cup squad is selected, and several players in the national team squad are fighting for places. Now they will have the chance to show what they can do in a competitive match where two European Championship points are at stake," says national team coach Michael Apelgren.
