On June 6 this year, the requirements for becoming a Swedish citizen were tightened. People between the ages of 16 and 66 who apply for citizenship now need to demonstrate knowledge of the Swedish language and Swedish society.
On Saturday, August 15, approximately 1,000 people will gather to sit the first civics test in social studies at the Stockholm Fair in Älvsjö, south of Stockholm.
However, the number of correct answers required to pass the exam has not yet been determined, as the exam has never been taken before.
An analysis of the overall test results will need to be carried out, says Dani Backteg, at UHR.
The analysis will take place in the autumn, but according to Backteg, more detailed information will be provided "shortly."
The exam consists of approximately 60 multiple-choice questions with four answer options, where the knowledge level corresponds to grade nine, according to the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
The Swedish Migration Agency decides who is allowed to take the exam, but it will also be possible to demonstrate knowledge in other ways, for example through a passing grade in social studies from primary school.
