The Government and The Sweden Democrats have agreed to reduce the so-called dance band VAT from 25 percent to 6 percent, according to Ekot in Sveriges Radio.

The proposal, which also includes entrance to nightclubs and discos, is included in the upcoming budget bill to be presented on September 22.

The VAT rate has long been disputed and considered unfair. At cultural events such as concerts, theater or ballet performances, tickets are sold with a VAT of 6 percent. At events where you dance to music, the VAT rate on entrance tickets is instead 25 percent.
