“We were one of Europe’s and the world’s largest donors in 2025, and we will be so in 2026 with this support,” said Benjamin Dousa, Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Affairs and Minister of Trade.
A very difficult winter awaits Gaza, he points out, with a shortage of medicines and 1.3 million people in urgent need of shelter. At the same time, several other countries are starting to withdraw their support.
“The media focus has shifted to other humanitarian crises, which means this humanitarian disaster in Gaza is now increasingly strained financially.”
The money will go towards humanitarian aid such as tents, beds, medicines, food packages and vaccines in Gaza and the region. It will be distributed through various organizations, but which organizations will distribute it has not yet been specified.
