Sweden trailed several times, and the USA caught up each time. The semi-finals of the men's world curling championship were close, and when the tenth end was over, the score was 6–6 between the teams.

During the extra end that followed, Sweden increased its lead to 8–6, giving them the victory and a place in the final.

Team Niklas Edin will now face Canada, which beat Scotland in the other semi-final, for the gold. Canada recently won Olympic gold but is represented by a different team at the World Championship.

Team Niklas Edin has won seven World Championship gold medals so far. In this year's group stage, the team won ten of twelve matches.

This year's Curling World Championship is being played in Utah in the USA, and the final will be on Easter Eve at 10:00 PM local time in Sweden.
