Ståhl won by a comfortable margin, with Jesper Ahlin taking second place with a throw of 60.66 metres. Wictor Petersson's 59.06 metres was enough for third place.

However, there was no long celebration for Ståhl. Immediately after the victory, he left the country for the next competition in Bellinzona, Switzerland, on Sunday.

"I'm jumping straight into the car to the airport," the discus star tells Expressen.

The Finnkampen has always been a little extra special for Ståhl, whose mother is Finnish.

This year, the classic international match will be decided in Helsinki on August 29 and 30.

Sweden won the double - both the men's and women's competition - in Stockholm last year when the Finnkampen celebrated its 100th anniversary. Two years ago, it was Finland that took a double victory in Helsinki.
