The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian Ambassador to Sweden to mark its opposition to the "continuous attacks on Ukrainian cities and the civilian population".

The meeting took place after one of Russia's largest attacks on Ukraine. Over 20 people were killed in the attack, including several children. Many more were injured in the attack and the death toll may therefore rise.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (The Moderate Party) writes on X that "Russia shows with its actions that it is not interested in peace. The government urges Russia to immediately withdraw all troops from Ukrainian territory".

The meeting took place on Friday.

"At the call, Russia's obligation to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian law was emphasized", the Ministry for Foreign Affairs writes in a press release.

In a deadly Russian attack on Kyiv on Thursday, the EU delegation's and British Council's premises were also damaged.
