Several fires are raging in southern Europe, especially in France and Spain. Two Swedish planes were sent to France on Saturday morning. Two more will be sent next week.
They are being sent in batches because maintenance is to be carried out on the plane, according to Christina Jarnlid, press spokesperson for the Swedish Civil Defence Agency (MCF).
The plane landed in the fire-ravaged Bordeaux area on Saturday evening at around 7 p.m.
Yes, the plans are in place, but they probably won't be put into action until tomorrow morning, Christina Jarnlid tells TT.
The two aircraft are part of an additional safety net with EU-wide resources called rescEU.
