The decision comes as the death toll from the Ebola outbreak has risen to nearly 650, with more than 1,800 infected. The money is expected to reach 380,000 people to help contain the spread.
"The government views the Ebola outbreak with great concern," says the Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade in a written comment to TT.
In addition, the outbreak is believed to be occurring in an environment characterised by conflict, limited humanitarian access and an already strained health sector.
