The government has allocated a total of 800 million kronor for humanitarian aid to Gaza. 555 million kronor were sent in March. It has now been decided that an additional 235 million kronor will be used for health and sanitation, clean water and hygiene items, according to Dousa.
During the spring, the number of reported illnesses related to inadequate living environments has increased.
Ten million kronor of the allocated funds remain, and the government does not rule out that the support may be increased.
"It depends on the situation on the ground and what is happening in other parts of the world. We will of course use the money where it is needed most," says Dousa.
Swedish support for Gaza amounts to SEK 2.4 billion since October 2023.
