From June 1, farm sales of alcohol will be permitted in Sweden. This requires, among other things, a permit from the municipality, that one follows the new law on farm sales and the National Board's regulations.
Now the National Board has decided on the regulations.
Back to 30 minutes
When proposals for regulations were sent out for review earlier this spring, it included a requirement that the visitor arrangement, for example at a vineyard, should be at least 45 minutes. This received criticism.
It turned out that it was a bit too much, we have backed down to 30 minutes, says the authority's chief lawyer Bitte Bråstad.
According to the law on farm sales, which the Riksdag recently passed, the visitor arrangement, for example at a vineyard, should be in focus and include educational elements.
should be a visit experience where you walk around, get a lecture or have a wine tasting, so 30 minutes is where we landed, says Bråstad.
Additionally, oral information shall be provided about the potential harm of alcohol.
TT: Should it be a lecture about harm?
No, it has become a misunderstanding, says Bråstad.
The National Board has produced an information material to facilitate for beverage manufacturers who think it is cumbersome to have that moment.
Should not be complicated
Those who offer farm sales need, according to the law, to have a self-control program. According to the regulations, the program should, among other things, state how the age limit is maintained, and ensure that sales are only made to persons who have participated in the visitor arrangement.
Bråstad does not believe that the regulations will be complicated for farm sales. She emphasizes that the rules are needed so that farm sales do not compete with Systembolaget, which would violate EU's requirements.
It's about tourism and a living countryside, that you can take a souvenir when you leave the farm, not about competing with Systembolaget, says Bråstad.
