The proposal covers a maximum of 3,900 personnel in ground units, 850 in naval units and 600 in air and air defense units.
For ground forces, this primarily concerns participation in NATO’s battle group in Latvia and NATO’s military presence in northern Finland. Sweden plans to contribute 600 personnel to each operation, but the number can be increased if necessary.
Compared with 2026, the maximum number of personnel who can be deployed for NATO’s deterrence and defense increases from 3,000 to 5,350.
