Sweden Beat Greece 33-24 in European Championship Qualifier Opener

As expected, Sweden’s handball team had no trouble in its opening European Championship qualifier, beating Greece 33–24 at home in Växjö.

Of course, it’s incredibly important to start with two points and do it well, says right-back Sebastian Karlsson, who scored five goals, to SVT.

At halftime, Sweden had “only” a five-goal lead, but pulled away in the second half. Right-back Albin Lagergren scored seven goals and was the top scorer for Sweden.

Sweden next faces Luxembourg away on Sunday. Luxembourg lost 23–41 away to North Macedonia, the group’s fourth team, on Wednesday.
