Sweden launches proposals to pressure electricity prices ahead of this fall's parliamentary elections

Among other things, the party wants to see tougher regulation of electricity grid companies.

The current model has resulted in high costs but not always to customers' benefit. The purpose of changing the model is to give companies an incentive to choose cheaper solutions. This model already exists in other countries, says Fredrik Olovsson, energy policy spokesperson, at a press conference.

In addition to this, S wants to see a government negotiator appointed. The aim is to assist municipal electricity companies to merge and thereby prevent private takeovers.
