"In just a few years, risky gambling among young men has doubled and one in five is affected. Therefore, we need to strengthen protection and prevent gambling from leading to ill health, debt or being drawn into crime," says Health Minister Elisabet Lann (KD) in a comment.

Investigator Zandra Milton, chief legal officer at Karolinska Institutet, will compile knowledge about gambling among children and young adults and submit proposals to strengthen protection, especially for boys and young men. The assignment also includes mapping marketing by gambling companies and analysing legislation in other countries.

The assignment must be reported no later than February 2028.
