The national team captain agrees that the Swedish team should have had more final places.
"We should have been in about twelve finals if you look at the competition and the swims we did. Europe has taken extremely big steps, so you need to go home and think about that," she says.
The Swedish team had 27 starts where the final placing was 30th or worse. The aim of the championship selection is that all swimmers should have a chance to reach the semifinals (top 16). But Aronsson defends the many selections.
"Two years before the Olympics, you need to see who will take the chance and who won't. That gives us direction," says Aronsson.
Sweden's medals were won by Sarah Sjöström, who took gold in the 50-meter butterfly and silver in the 50-meter freestyle, and Sara Junevik, who took bronze in the 50-meter butterfly.
