It is clear after Thursday's draw.

Both Germany – reigning World Champions – and Montenegro were opponents to Blågult also in the recently concluded European Championship qualifying round.

"The group feels really exciting", says the basketball federation's sports manager Lasse Johansson.

Sweden's group is decided in Finnish Tammerfors.

"Our Finnish friends have a strong basketball culture and their fans are known for being very loud and engaged. It will be an exciting challenge to play in front of such an audience, especially since our first match is against Finland", says Johansson.

The other three groups are played in Riga (Latvia), Limassol (Cyprus), and Katowice (Poland). The four best in each group advance to the round of 16.

Sweden's men's basketball national team has not played in the European Championship since 2013 and was now in the sixth and last seeding group in the draw.

This year's basketball European Championship is played August 27-September 14 and the group stage was drawn on Thursday.
