It is four real heavyweights that have made it to the semifinals in the Nations League and Sweden will face the heaviest of them all.
The women's football team will measure their strength against Spain in a double match, where the first match will be played on Spanish soil on October 24 and the return in Sweden four days later.
In the other semifinal, Germany and France will meet.
Sweden and Spain last met in 2023, when three matches were played in relatively short time.
First, the Spanish women won the World Championship semifinal in Auckland with 2–1, on the way to the historic gold.
During the fall, the teams were also matched against each other in the Nations League. Spain won again – first with 3–2 in Gothenburg and then with 5–3 in Málaga.
The bronze match and the final in this year's Nations League will also be played in a double match, on November 28 and December 2. Even then, fate decided that Sweden will start on away soil.
