Since the collaboration began two and a half years ago, 45 convicted criminals have been deported to Somalia, compared with nine people during the period 2014-2022. Today, the police have 55 open cases where people have been sentenced to deportation.

The annual support of five million kronor goes through the UN migration agency IOM to a coordination group that reports to the Prime Minister's Office.

Forssell has been scrutinized by the Riksdag's Constitutional Committee (KU), including after reports that money was spent on "ghost services" at the Somali government office. But according to Forssell, there is no evidence of any corruption, which means the support can be extended.
