Sweden wants to broaden its social policy cooperation with Ukraine to also include support for the elderly. In a first step, the National Board of Health and Welfare will conduct a study of Ukraine's needs in elderly care and Sweden's opportunities to respond to them.

Sweden has had an agreement with Ukraine in healthcare and support for children and families since 2023. This support makes a difference, according to Minister for Elderly Care and Social Insurance Anna Tenje (The Moderate Party) who visited Ukraine.

"Therefore, I am proud that Sweden now also wants to support Ukraine's elderly, a group that is particularly vulnerable in both wartime and peacetime," she says in a press release.

The National Board of Health will report to the government at the end of November.
