After first losing the double match in the Nations League semi-final against Spain with a total of 0–5 and then the bronze medal match against France with a 3–4, Sweden drops to fifth place in the International Football Association Board (FIFA) world rankings.
Sweden now has two away matches against Italy and Serbia in March when qualifying for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil gets underway.
Nations League champions Spain maintain their position as world number one ahead of the USA and Germany. European Championship champions England are fourth. Also worth noting is that North Korea – without even having played a match – climbed to ninth place.
