The Swedish men's national football team continues to slide in the world rankings. In the latest update, Sweden is in 43rd place.

The last time the national team was ranked so poorly was in March 2017. At that time, Sweden was ranked 45th, according to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) website.

In the past week, Sweden has lost to Switzerland 1–4 away and drawn against Slovenia, 1–1, at home. Although the national team finished last in the World Cup qualifying group, the national team has secured a place in the playoff through the Nations League.

Even worse in the rankings was Denmark, which lost the most ranking points of all countries after squandering the group victory in the World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Belarus.

Spain still tops ahead of Argentina and France.

On Thursday, Sweden's playoff opponents for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada will be drawn. The national team will face either Italy, Denmark, Turkey or Ukraine in the playoff semi-finals.

  1. Spain.

  2. Argentina.

  3. France.

  4. England.

  5. Brazil.

  6. Denmark.

  7. Norway.

  8. Sweden.

  9. Finland.
