It became clear when the group-stage draw was made on Monday. Sweden, ranked 19th in the world, will face two top-10 teams in Group H: China (sixth) and the Netherlands (10th). Switzerland is ranked 30th. Sweden’s group will be played in Quebec City, Canada, and the top two teams will advance to the round of 16.
We have to beat China or the Netherlands to advance. Switzerland feels like a team we should beat, says spiker Hanna Hellvig to SVT .
This will be only the second time a Swedish women’s national team has played in the World Cup. The first was last year in Thailand, when Sweden finished third in its group and missed the playoffs. Last summer, Sweden reached the quarterfinals of the European Championship.
