The Sweden Democrats-affiliated media channel Riks has reviewed the party’s list of MPs nominated to various parliamentary committees.

Oscar Sjöstedt, who has been the Sweden Democrats’ economic policy spokesperson, will move from the Finance Committee to the Constitutional Committee, known as KU.

Ludvig Aspling, the party’s migration policy spokesperson, will also join KU. He has also been nominated to the EU Committee.

The party’s vice-chairman and former chairman of the Justice Committee, Henrik Vinge, has been nominated to the Finance Committee.

Jomshof is being moved

The Sweden Democrats want to appoint Richard Jomshof, who chaired the Justice Committee until February 2025, to the Business Committee, alongside Martin Kinnunen, the party’s climate policy spokesperson.

Alexander Christiansson, who has been the party’s cultural policy spokesperson, is among those nominated to the Justice Committee.

Tobias Andersson, who chaired the Business Committee during the previous term, has been nominated to the Education Committee, according to Riks.

Linda Lindberg, the Sweden Democrats’ group leader in the Riksdag (the Swedish parliament), has been nominated to the Social Affairs Committee.

“Natural part”

The Sweden Democrats’ press officer, Oscar Cavalli Björkman, says the list reported in the media is “largely correct” and writes:

“Changes ahead of a new term are a natural part of the party’s development. Several of our members will take on new major responsibilities in the Riksdag, which will be announced by tomorrow at the latest.”

The Riksdag will decide on the allocation of committee seats on Tuesday. The committees will then hold inaugural meetings to elect their chairs and vice-chairs.

The Social Democrats’ group leader, Lena Hallengren, says on Instagram that there will be a red-green majority on all committees and that eight committees, as well as the EU Committee, will have a red-green chair.
