Emilie Pilthammar is SD's new top candidate in Sölvesborg. This weekend she was announced as the first name on the party's ballot ahead of the autumn elections.
Now it emerges that on her blog she has described Russia's Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy as choosing between "plague or cholera". In another post last March she wrote that they are "two corrupt countries competing to be the worst".
"She's going straight out"
In January 2022, she wrote that “the Russians might have been a better solution than the regime we have now.”
These are things that are far from what the party stands for and that are completely wrong in terms of how things are, says SD's party secretary, Mattias Bäckström Johansson to Expressen.
When asked if SD has filed any cases following the information that emerged, Magnus Olsson, chairman of the party's membership committee, replied that that is true.
"She's going straight. Enough of the nonsense," he writes in an email to TT.
The former Moderate Pilthammar writes on her blog that Expressen has taken words and sentences out of context and that she is not pro-Russian.
Åkesson: Seriously
However, SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson is clear that one cannot represent the party if one compares Putin and Zelenskyy to "plague or cholera".
No, I don't think that's possible if you ask me in general.
He has referred the matter to the membership committee, which will investigate.
I find it worrying that she, as a representative of our party, is expressing ambiguity about the relationship between Russia and Ukraine. It is serious.
