The shift is happening with urgency - in one day - because the set-off system, an agreement between the parties in parliament, collapsed at the end of April when the SD violated it.

Now all members from the Tidö side must be present so that the government does not risk losing votes. The system preserved the balance of power in the Riksdag even if a number of members were absent from a vote, for example due to illness, business trips or a funeral. Then the same number were offset from the opposition.

According to SD, the new member Daniel Spiik will take his seat on Wednesday.

SD still does not want to officially confirm that the member - who has left all his assignments for the party - is suspected of child pornography crimes.

"As a party, we can only take into account the information currently available and do our best to understand it in depth. For this reason, our membership committee has started an investigation into this person, and he is suspended from his membership while it is ongoing." The party's press department wrote to TT on Tuesday evening.
