Political advertisements have been banned on social media and Google since last fall. But the Sweden Democrats in Stockholm found a way to circumvent the ban by using the site "Stoppabygget.nu", and were thus classified as a broker, not a political party.
The ads contain targeted messages about how the party wants to stop various construction projects in Stockholm. Nowhere does it say that SD is the sender, which has been a legal requirement since 2025.
According to the EU regulation TTPA, political advertising must be clearly marked, so it is clear who paid and who it is aimed at.
The ads have now been taken down, Google announced, because they violated the company's advertising policies.
