It was an expected win for the Swedes when they faced Cuba in their second World Cup match.
At halftime, Sweden led by a whopping 25–9. Clara Lerby accounted for six of Sweden's goals in the first half.
"It's always a bit special when you go in as super favorites, and we're going to win this match. But that's the way we do it, so it's up to us how we want this match to be," Lerby told Viaplay during the break.
The Swedish superiority continued in the second half and the match ended with a 29-goal victory for Sweden, who with their second straight victory are qualified for the main round.
"I think we did well in large parts of the match, but a bit sloppy and untimely at times. But overall I think it was an acceptable effort," Filippa Idéhn tells Viaplay.
"I've never seen any of these girls play handball before, that's what you usually do with your opponents. They play a little differently, sometimes it's more like rugby than handball, they went very hard in their duels," Idéhn continues about how Kuba made the match difficult to play.
21-year-old championship debutant Thea Kylberg scored her first goals in a World Cup.
"Of course it's fun to score your first championship goals, but then there are always things you can improve on and some finishes that were a little worse. But now I'm just going to enjoy that they're done, these first goals," says Kylberg.
Sweden's next match is on Monday at 8:30 PM against Brazil.
