After five wins in seven rounds, the Swedish mixed team only needs to win one of their two final matches to advance to the semifinals.

But for the second match in a row, Sweden nearly collapsed in the final round.

Against Canada on Tuesday, they trailed 5–3 and went on to lose 6–5. Now it was 5–2 heading into the eighth and final end, when things nearly fell apart.

Slovakia's skipper Adrian Durcek had a great chance to score four points with the last stone of the match. But he missed, and Sweden won by a narrow 5–4.

Tonight Sweden could be through to the semifinals. Then Italy awaits. The group stage concludes against China tomorrow.
