The Swedish women's bandy team had no trouble beating Finland. They won 8–0 in the opening match of the Bandy World Championship.

The home advantage of the host country made little difference.

Finland had nothing to offer Sweden in the opening match of the Bandy World Championship in Pori.

A comfortable 5–0 lead at halftime turned into a big 8–0 victory in front of 283 spectators.

Seven different scorers found the net for Sweden. Karla Thuresson scored twice, while Moa Friman, Kajsa Ericsson, Tilda Ström, Gabriella Aronsson, Edit Ljung and Ella Oskarsson each scored once.

Sweden's group stage continues with matches against the USA on Thursday and Norway on Friday. The final will be played on Sunday.

Sweden has won twelve gold medals and one silver in the thirteen editions of the Women's World Championship. They are also the reigning champions.
