We have in all our talks on different levels demanded immediate humanitarian access (to Gaza). We have also pushed within the EU for sanctions against extremist settlers who also commit violent acts against civilians. And to put further pressure on Israel, I can now announce that Sweden will push for EU sanctions against individual Israeli ministers, says Malmer Stenergard.

Are you thinking of specific ministers?

No, it's about extremist ministers who drive forward an illegal settlement policy and counteract a future two-state solution, says Malmer Stenergard.

The Foreign Minister further states that the EU countries will discuss a proposal from the Netherlands "to analyze whether Israel lives up to its obligations regarding respect for human rights" which are established in the association agreement between the EU and Israel.

This is something that Sweden also supports.
