Sweden is to develop a plan for large-scale evacuation in the event of a crisis or war, together with Finland.

The Government assigns the task to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), and it will be carried out together with relevant authorities in Finland.

The purpose is to protect the population in the event of a severe crisis or an armed attack against either of the countries.

"If the worst were to happen, Sweden and Finland should have all available means to defend our respective countries and protect the civilian population", says Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin (The Moderate Party) in a press release.

The task is intended to enhance that capability, is the idea.

A plan for cross-border large-scale evacuation is also something that Sweden must have now that we are members of NATO.
