The cooperation means that the countries will work even more closely together in "monitoring and protecting territorial integrity", according to a press release from the Government Offices.
According to information from SVT, Gripen aircraft and warships will patrol the Russian border at the request of the Finnish government. This follows Russian violations of airspace and Ukrainian drones that ended up on the Finnish side of the border.
The countries' defence ministers write that the cooperation increases Finland's ability to respond to drone threats resulting from Russia's war against Ukraine and strengthens NATO's deterrence and defence.
