The Government and the Sweden Democrats are allocating 500 million kronor to the Prison and Probation Service in the spring amending budget.
"The Prison and Probation Service faces significant challenges. With the collaborative parties' policy, more people will be imprisoned for longer periods than today. The need for new remand prison and institution places is very high and the expansion must continue", writes the Ministry of Justice in a press release.
The Prison and Probation Service had requested increased appropriations of 800 million kronor for next year.
