Swede Melina Andersson wins second straight world championship gold in K1 5,000 meters

The distance has been dominated by Melina Andersson this season, and the 27-year-old has won all five 5,000-metre World Cup competitions.

Now there was also a second consecutive World Championship gold medal in the distance, on the final day of the championships in Poznan, Poland.

The gold is Andersson's seventh individual World Cup medal of the highest calibre at senior level. In total, she has 14 World Cup medals in canoeing.
