Swede convicted in Russia - has fought for Ukraine

A Swedish man who fought for Ukraine against Russia has been convicted in a Russian court of, among other things, terrorism, Russian media report.

The man, who is in his 50s, was sentenced in his absence to seven years in prison and twenty years in a penal colony. Russian authorities have placed the man on an international wanted list.

He is also convicted of smuggling firearms and ammunition and of participating in an armed conflict against Russian forces, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant.

Previously, a Swedish man was sentenced to 23 years in prison in Russia for fighting with Ukrainian forces against Russia.
